AttitudeMillay’s attitude came off as if she knows the right thing and somewhat humble. She seems to know what she wants and makes it seem like her way is the right way and that is how she explains her wants, or what she doesn’t want. She also seems humble because she knows what love is and knows that it doesn’t need all those fancy things. Towards the end of that sonnet, she has a mocking tone and makes fun of all the pretty things that kids like.

ShiftThe poem shifts from how she talks about not wanting to show love in a material way, but in the last two lines, she mocks how people give gifts to each other. This is evidenced by the change of rhyme scheme. It follows a repeating pattern every other line except for a rhyming couplet at the end.
